It all began with a retirement
LEGACY OF A PIONEERING TEMECULA WINERY FAMILY
After 15 years with his company, Steve’s Towing and auto dismantling, Steve Andrews was looking for a second challenge. He and his wife Valerie took their passion for the family’s ten-acre hobby vineyard in Temecula, California to embark upon starting a winery. In 2002 they released their first vintage, Windy Ridge Cellars Syrah.
Spring ahead 21 years to 2023 Steve and Valerie find themselves ready for a reset. They have retired from their original winery business, Oak Mountain Winery, 36522 Distillery, and The Cave Café. After more than two decades in the industry, the Andrews are going full circle and getting small once again.
Windy Ridge Cellars is all about getting back to their roots and being highly focused. Steve is where he wants to be, back in the vineyard getting dirty, farming and making the most exciting wines of his career in a small batch for home use, Private Reserve Style.
Their son & daughter in law, Travis & Lisa, will be producing their own Hard Apple Cider under the Windy Ridge Cellars label, starting in 2023. Stay tuned for the first release of this craft Cider. While the kids still run their Animal Town Sanctuary and Farm, Travis will be managing their orchard while Lisa will be the Cidermaker.
Steve & Valerie have farmed and cultivated the 10 acre estate perched on an idyllic 10 acre hillside 2900 feet in elevation. Varietals on the property include Viognier, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvedre, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, and Grenache, planted in 2000.

Steve Andrews
Steve’s career path started in the 60’s building and racing funny cars, drag racing and off road racing. Following a 6 year time out for the army where he was an instructor for electronics. He then started yet another career as a contractor for the automobile club and Riverside County with his towing company appropriately named Steve’s Towing. After building all four tow trucks himself and operating his towing company successfully for fifteen years he decided sleepless nights with police calls at all hours helped make the decision to change his career. When Temecula Hills Winery opened Steve sold the towing company to become a full time winemaker and continues making the award winning wines for Temecula Hills and Oak Mountain Winery with Valerie by his side running the tasting room, events and management of all operations. Steve completed his enology courses from UC Davis and takes continuing education in viticulture and enology classes to keep up on the latest improvements in the winemaking operations..
